Open City
If you are looking for a restaurant that offers down to earth home cooking, great service, and a comfortable environment than Open City is the one that you are looking for. Open City is located in Houston, Texas and is surrounded by a variety of other restaurants and bars – but it seems to stick out among them all. It has a spectacular view of downtown Houston and a rooftop bar for those who like to live a little.
The minute you step through the door you are greeted by Nadine – the owner who welcomes you and thanks you for spending the evening with them. This immediately puts you at ease and makes you more willing to try whatever is on the menu.
They have a variety of options to choose from that remind you of when your mother used to cook every meal for you. They serve dishes like meatloaf and mashed potatoes, thick, juicy pork chops and steaks, fresh fish, and of course mac-n-cheese. Before your meal arrives you can snack on the warm bread that is delivered to your table almost the second you sit down. It is served with a delicious honey butter made especially by Nadine – which melts all over the bread making it almost too good to be true. Each meal is delicious and is made with the perfect blend of spices.
Open City is great for families – but is also open late for those who like to stay up a bit later into the night without having to go to a noisy bar. They have an outdoor patio as well as an bar on the roof that can be partially covered if it rains. They serve some delicious and unusual drinks like their Pop Rocks martini, French Kiss martini, and their homemade Sangria.
This is a great restaurant that caters to both young and old. It is a place that welcomes you with open arms, offers great service, and some of the best southern food that you could possibly enjoy. This is definitely a place that will keep you coming back for more.
